Valley Stream, NY – Authorities are investigating a suspected arson after a fire erupted at the home of Jennifer McLeggan, a Black woman who gained national attention in 2020 when she accused her neighbors of years of racial harassment, leading to their arrests. She has remained the target of continued harassment—both online and offline—by her former neighbor, Mindy Canarick, as well as Canarick’s boyfriend, John McEneaney, and close friend Sasha Graham. In her online space, Sasha Graham provided solace to Canarick and her boyfriend, unwaveringly defending their innocence while portraying McLeggan as a federal informant who, in her view, deserved punishment and exposure.
Sasha Graham, who created an online forum on Reddit dedicated to discrediting McLeggan, has been one of the most vocal supporters of Canarick and McEneaney. She has defended their innocence while encouraging Canarick—along with others—to seek retribution against McLeggan. Within this online space, Graham allegedly provided a platform where Canarick could fuel her vendetta, reinforcing her anger and portraying McLeggan as a fraud who deserved retaliation.
In her effort to discredit McLeggan, Graham escalated her attacks by targeting a GoFundMe campaign started in July 2020 by McLeggan’s neighbor, Erica Coreas. The campaign had raised funds that McLeggan used to erect a headstone monument for her late aunt, Gaylette Drummond, an EMT who was murdered on the job in Brooklyn in 2001, and damages to her property caused by Canarick. Despite lacking any factual basis, Graham repeatedly claimed that McLeggan had scammed innocent donors for personal gain and should be punished and exposed for fraud.
Graham’s Subreddit features images taken by Canarick of McLeggan’s home, along with utility bills and other personal information. Canarick openly states on the forum that she is determined to make McLeggan “pay” for her arrest, with Sasha Graham actively encouraging her and offering full support. Given these threats, the fact that McLeggan’s home was set on fire appears far from coincidental.
According to the attorney, Canarick’s resentment toward McLeggan stems from her 2020 arrest after video evidence surfaced showing her and McEneaney engaging in acts of intimidation, including throwing human feces and placing dead squirrels on McLeggan’s property. Sasha Graham has consistently defended their innocence and created a Subreddit in support of McLeggan’s neighbors, providing them with a platform to express their frustrations once their restraining orders and probationary period ended.
The situation took a dangerous turn on March 2, 2025, when a fire broke out at McLeggan’s home in Valley Stream. While officials initially treated the fire as accidental, Detective Albanese of the Fire and Bomb Unit of Nassau County has now confirmed that the fire was set by McLeggan’s neighbors. Detective Albanese stated that the neighbors admitted to burning twigs and leaves on their property at 9 a.m. on March 2, 2025, which led to a fire that quickly spread out of control. However, following further investigation, authorities have concluded that the fire was deliberately set, potentially leading to arson charges.
McLeggan’s history of harassment at the hands of Canarick and McEneaney dates back to 2017 when she reported repeated acts of intimidation that Sasha Graham denies. She accused the couple of throwing feces onto her property, leaving dead animals in her yard, and shooting pellet guns toward her home. All of which, Sasha Graham claims is not true. In early 2018, she alleged that McEneaney attempted to set fire to her home using a blowtorch, though the incident was never fully investigated. Video footage taken by McLeggan confirmed her accusations and Canarick and McEneaney were investigated and then later arrested.
Video evidence recorded by McLeggan substantiated her claims, prompting an investigation into Canarick and McEneaney's actions by the Nassau County District Attorney’s Office. However, Sasha Graham, undeterred by the evidence, dismisses the findings and insists that McLeggan’s neighbors have done nothing wrong. Far from being a passive supporter, Graham has taken an active role in fueling the harassment, not only defending Canarick but also creating a platform where others could rally behind their cause and strategize against McLeggan. She has gone beyond mere justification, insisting that McLeggan is deserving of relentless torment and offering a space for others to contribute ideas for retaliation.
Despite McLeggan’s departure from the property, Canarick allegedly persisted in her vendetta, shifting from in-person intimidation to a full-scale online smear campaign—one that was carefully cultivated and encouraged by Sasha Graham. Rather than merely standing by Canarick, Graham emboldened her, providing an echo chamber of support while helping to escalate what began as neighborhood harassment into a targeted digital assault, all under the guise of seeking justice against McLeggan.
The suspected arson has sparked widespread outrage, with McLeggan’s attorney demanding accountability for the fire after her neighbors admitted to setting it during their statements to detectives. Law enforcement officials are actively reviewing digital evidence, including social media activity linking Canarick and Graham to inflammatory content about McLeggan. Authorities urge anyone with relevant information to step forward as the investigation progresses.
As McLeggan’s legal team continues its pursuit of justice, the case underscores broader concerns about the escalation of online harassment into real-world violence. If investigators determine that Graham incited Canarick’s actions or played a role in the events leading up to the fire, she too could face legal consequences alongside Canarick.
