Queens, NY - Antonina Freycinet, a 45-year-old resident of South Jamaica, Queens, was fatally struck in a suspected hit-and-run on Christmas night. The incident has left her family and community mourning the loss of a beloved neighbor and professional.
The collision occurred around 9:35 p.m. near the intersection of 158th Street and 111th Avenue, just steps from Freycinet’s home. Emergency responders found her lying in the street with injuries consistent with being struck by a vehicle, though no car was present at the scene. She was rushed to Jamaica Hospital, where she was pronounced dead.
According to family members, they were alerted by the sound of a loud bang. “I heard a loud bang and I went out, and I saw her,” one relative recounted. The family has expressed shock and heartbreak over the sudden loss of someone they describe as kind, hardworking, and deeply committed to her community.
Freycinet was well-known locally as the owner of Clean Books Bookkeeping Services, Inc., a business she registered in 2016. She provided bookkeeping and tax preparation services to individuals and small businesses in the Jamaica, Queens area, earning the respect of clients and colleagues alike.
The NYPD’s Highway Crash Investigation Squad is actively working on the case but has not identified any suspects or witnesses. Authorities are urging anyone with information to come forward to help bring the driver responsible for the incident to justice.
“Hit-and-run incidents like this are devastating for families and communities,” an NYPD spokesperson said. “We are doing everything we can to identify the driver involved in this tragedy.”
