Sex Trafficking Operation Uncovered: Illegal Migrant Charged in Long Island Case
By Marsh (Edi) Baptise
Queens, NY – Jorge Ramos, a 55-year-old Mexican national residing illegally in Queens, has been charged with sex trafficking on Long Island, authorities confirmed. Ramos coerced women into prostitution by threatening to expose compromising videos of them, forcing them into a cycle of exploitation that lasted for years.
According to law enforcement, Ramos had been operating his illicit activities from various hotels in Nassau County since 2019. His scheme reportedly involved luring vulnerable women into his control before using blackmail and intimidation to force them into sex work. Officials stated that victims felt trapped, fearing the exposure of private materials as well as potential retaliation from Ramos himself.
Authorities began investigating Ramos after multiple reports from victims who bravely came forward to share their stories. Through a coordinated effort between local police and federal agencies, he was arrested earlier this week and now faces serious charges, including sex trafficking, coercion, and illegal residency violations.
“This case is yet another example of the pervasive issue of human trafficking in our communities,” said a spokesperson for the Nassau County Police Department. “We urge anyone who may be experiencing similar abuse to come forward so that we can hold perpetrators accountable and provide victims with the support they need.”
Sex trafficking remains a significant issue in the region, with traffickers often targeting women in vulnerable situations. Advocates stress the importance of increasing resources for victims and pushing for stricter laws to combat these crimes effectively.
Ramos is currently being held in custody and awaits trial. Authorities continue to investigate whether additional individuals were involved in his operation. Victims and those with information are encouraged to contact local law enforcement or national trafficking hotlines for assistance.
