The Betrayal of Motherhood: La Leche League’s Founder Abandoned Her Legacy Over the Push for Male Breastfeeding
By Sharnellia Bennett-Smith
Staten Island, NY - For nearly seven decades, La Leche League has been one of the most respected organizations advocating for breastfeeding mothers, providing support, education, and a sense of community for women worldwide. Founded in 1956 by a group of seven mothers, including Mary White, La Leche League was built on the fundamental truth that breastfeeding is an essential, natural function exclusive to women.
Today, at 93 years old, White is watching in horror as the organization she helped create has strayed so far from its purpose that she has completely distanced herself from it.
Why? Because La Leche League, like so many institutions, has surrendered to radical gender ideology, insisting that biological men—trans-identified males who claim to be women—can breastfeed babies.
Mary White, who spent her life advocating for mothers, never fought for this. She never imagined that one day, her organization would abandon biological reality in favor of affirming men’s delusions at the expense of children’s health.
At the core of this controversy is the disturbing push to normalize trans-identified males breastfeeding babies—a process that requires a cocktail of synthetic hormones and off-label drugs to force the male body to leak a fluid that mimics breast milk.
There are no long-term studies on the effects of these chemicals on infants. None.
Despite this, activists are determined to place ideology over science, using babies as test subjects in an experiment with unknown consequences.
One of the most commonly used drugs in this process is domperidone, a medication so risky that it has been banned by the FDA due to concerns over cardiac complications and unknown long-term side effects. Yet, trans-identified males are encouraged to use it to induce lactation, disregarding the potential harm to the child.
Unlike natural breast milk, which is perfectly designed by a mother’s body to provide essential nutrients, immune support, and hormones tailored to her baby’s needs, this artificially produced fluid is chemically altered and untested. We have no idea what impact it may have on a baby’s development, yet activists demand that society accept this practice without question.
This movement isn’t about ensuring the best care for infants—it’s about affirming adult fantasies.
The desire for a biological male to breastfeed is not rooted in maternal instinct, but in fetishistic and pedophilic impulses. Many trans-identified males who seek to breastfeed are openly involved in autogynephilia, a sexual fetish in which a man is aroused by the idea of himself as a woman.
The intimate act of breastfeeding, which fosters a natural bond between mother and baby, is being co-opted for self-indulgence, with no regard for the child’s well-being.
There have already been cases of trans-identified males publicly discussing the arousal they feel while breastfeeding—an admission that should set off alarm bells. Any adult who derives sexual gratification from an act involving a child is engaging in predatory behavior, yet society is being conditioned to look the other way in the name of “inclusivity.”
Yet, La Leche League and similar organizations continue to cave to this insanity, pushing policies that erase women and endanger children.
They tell women that there is no difference between natural breastfeeding and a male leaking chemically induced fluid. They silence concerns, demonize dissent, and pretend that this is about inclusivity when in reality, it’s about forcing society to comply with the ever-expanding demands of a radical agenda.
Mary White’s heartbreak over what has become of La Leche League should be a wake-up call. The organization that once championed motherhood has abandoned its roots, trading science for ideology and maternal care for activism.
