But after securing the funds, location, lease, and keys, she changed her stance, announcing that the gym would be for biological women only. That was all it took for trans rights activists (TRAs) to unleash a wave of hatred, racism, and outright lies in an attempt to destroy her.

What followed was a full-blown smear campaign, with TRAs accusing Barnett of scamming trans people out of millions. They claimed she had taken their money under false pretenses, pretending to be inclusive until she had what she needed. But it didn’t stop there. The same people demanding that she “repay” the trans community took their attacks to a vile, racist level—mocking her as a Black woman, claiming they were “more biologically female” than she was, and shaming her for daring to establish a space without them in it.

Barnett didn’t just sit back and take it. She fought back with receipts.

She took to social media and exposed the entire thing as a lie. The real total of public donations? Just £1,190, averaging £13 per person. And the trans community—the same one screaming that they were owed millions? They didn’t donate anything at all.

Despite all their noise about being “betrayed donors,” not a single trans activist has come forward to request a refund. Why? Because their fake outrage was never about the money. It was never about betrayal. It was about forcing a Black woman to submit. 

This is what happens every time a woman tries to reclaim something for herself and other women. It happened to J.K. Rowling, and now it’s happening to Barnett. The TRAs lied, manipulated, and harassed her, only to go silent when their deception was exposed. The same people who screamed about being scammed were never victims—just bullies trying to rewrite reality.

The claims that Barnett had taken millions from trans donors were nothing more than a lie, carefully crafted to smear her reputation and pressure her into reversing her decision. Despite their loud demands for refunds, not a single trans activist has stepped forward to actually request one. Their outrage, which once dominated social media, has now gone completely silent.

The entire controversy was never about financial contributions—it was about control. Barnett’s decision to exclude trans-identified males from her women’s gym was met with rage from men who believe they are entitled to women’s spaces. When their lies about donating were exposed, they simply moved on, leaving behind their trail of harassment and racism.

Barnett has stood her ground, refusing to be bullied into submission. The Girls Spot is still set to open as a women-only gym, proving that, despite the intimidation tactics, some women will not cave under pressure. The activists who demanded her downfall have now vanished, knowing full well that their entire outrage was based on nothing but lies. 

This situation makes one thing clear: when women create spaces for themselves, men who cosplay as women aren’t actually interested in being part of them—their real goal is to control and dominate. Their outrage isn’t about inclusion; it’s about power and punishment. These men falsely claimed betrayal, insisting they had poured money into a Black woman’s project, only for Barnett to turn her back on them. But when the truth came out? They had donated nothing.

The hypocrisy is glaring. Barnett, like many Black women, has gone out of her way to support the trans community, even repeating the narrative that trans-identified males face more danger than she does, despite statistics proving otherwise. And yet, the moment she asserted a boundary for herself and other women, these same people turned on her with lies, vitriol, and racism.

This wasn’t about access to a gym. It was about putting a woman in her place for daring to say no. And when their deception was exposed, they did what they always do—went silent, knowing they were never victims to begin with.
